Description
Our wooden boxes with accompanying blocks and planks etc. are designed to empower children to design and build their own play environment. Children can build enclosures such as secret places, structures for climbing, or obstacle courses. Alternatively children can be guided by centre teachers to meet specific curriculum outcomes.
The boxes are small enough for children to manouver but heavy heavy enough to require physical exertion by a single child or collaboration amongst a number of children. Consequently multiple learning objectives can be achieved whether children are collaborating or being guided by a teacher.
The wooden boxes have a vertical slot which can be used to insert planks or rails to form a wall between boxes. Consequently enclosures can be made by building walls between multiple boxes. By using different length planks windows can also be made in the walls.
The boxes, planks and blocks are all made from untreated macrocarpa.
